What does the extra capacity actually buy?
The AC180’s 82 Wh advantage over the Explorer 1000 v2 sounds like nothing. Translated into runtime, it roughly is:

This is where the value gap is widest in the whole database: $500 for effectively identical capacity. What Jackery gives you for it is 600 W more continuous output, 2,400 W more surge, 200 W more solar input, and 3,808 Wh more expansion headroom.
That’s a coherent package if you need it. A well pump with a 3,000 W surge starts on the Explorer 2000 Plus and may not on the AC200L. If nothing you own draws over 2,400 W, you’re paying $500 for headroom you’ll never touch.
Where Jackery wins
Weight. The Explorer 1000 v2 carries 45 Wh per pound; the AC180 carries 33. For a unit you lift into a truck bed, walk to a campsite, or carry upstairs, 11.5 lbs is a real difference. It’s why Jackery is our camping pick despite losing on price.
Inverter headroom at 2 kWh. The Explorer 2000 Plus delivers 3,000 W continuous and 6,000 W surge against the AC200L’s 2,400 W and 3,600 W. If you need to start a well pump, a large compressor or a table saw, that’s what the premium buys — and no amount of price-per-watt-hour advantage helps if the appliance won’t start.
Solar input at 2 kWh. 1,400 W on the Explorer 2000 Plus against 1,200 W on the AC200L. Modest, but it favours Jackery for extended off-grid use.
Where Bluetti wins
Price, at every class. Covered above, and it’s decisive if capacity is what you’re buying.
Expansion on the AC200L. 8,192 Wh from a 2,048 Wh base, which matters for home backup where one day of essentials costs roughly 2,600 Wh. Note the asymmetry within Bluetti’s own range though: the AC180 does not expand at all. Don’t assume the brand behaves consistently.
Capacity per dollar in the 1 kWh class. 1,152 Wh is the most in that class in our database — more than the Anker SOLIX C1000, the EcoFlow DELTA 2 and the Jackery.
Where they’re the same
Both ship LiFePO4 across current lines at 3,000+ cycles. Both use pure sine wave inverters. Both have real US support and multi-year warranties. Chemistry was a genuine differentiator between brands two years ago and no longer is.
Decision rules
Choose Jackery when:
- You carry the unit — camping, walk-in sites, upstairs
- You need to start a motor and want the 3,000 W inverter
- Weight per watt-hour is the binding constraint
Choose Bluetti when:
- The unit stays put — home backup, RV bay, garage, van
- Price per watt-hour is the deciding factor
- You want expansion headroom (AC200L specifically, not the AC180)
Consider neither if you’re at the 1 kWh class and price is your priority — the EcoFlow DELTA 3 is $0.68/Wh, undercutting both brands substantially.
Which brand holds value better?
Neither company publishes resale data and we’re not going to invent a number, but two spec differences do predict how long a unit stays useful.
Cycle rating. Both brands quote 3,000+ cycles to 80% capacity on current LiFePO4 lines. Cycled weekly that’s a decade before meaningful degradation — long enough that it isn’t the limiting factor for most owners.
Expandability. This is the real one. A unit you can add capacity to stays useful when your needs change; one you can’t gets replaced. Bluetti’s AC200L (8,192 Wh) and Jackery’s Explorer 2000 Plus (12,000 Wh) both grow. The AC180 does not, at all — so if there’s any chance you’ll want more later, that model is the wrong entry point regardless of its price advantage.
Common questions we’d ask before buying
Do you already own panels? Match them to the unit’s maximum solar input: 400 W on the Explorer 1000 v2, 500 W on the AC180, 1,200 W on the AC200L, 1,400 W on the Explorer 2000 Plus. Panels above the cap are wasted money — the charge controller simply limits.
What’s your single biggest load? Find it, check the continuous inverter rating clears it, then assume the startup surge is five times running watts for anything with a motor. Capacity is irrelevant if the appliance won’t start.
Will it move? This is the question that actually separates these two brands. Be honest about it — people consistently overestimate how often they’ll carry a 35 lb box.
A note on solar generator bundles
Both brands sell panel bundles under the solar generator label. It’s the same hardware with panels in the box. What varies is maximum solar input: 1,400 W on the Explorer 2000 Plus, 1,200 W on the AC200L, 500 W on the AC180, 400 W on the Explorer 1000 v2.
Plan on 60–70% of rated panel wattage over a good day, and don’t exceed your unit’s input cap — the charge controller simply limits, and the extra panel is wasted money. More detail in the solar generator guide.

That last row is worth sitting with. At the 1 kWh class the DELTA 3 undercuts both brands by a wide margin while charging faster and expanding further, so a Jackery-versus-Bluetti decision at that capacity is often the wrong question. Where the two brands genuinely lead is at 2 kWh — Bluetti on price, Jackery on inverter muscle.
On price
All figures are MSRP, and this category discounts 30–40% on major sale events. Both brands promote deeply and not always at the same time, so a Jackery on sale can undercut a Bluetti at list — reversing the value verdict for that week.
Decide which brand suits your constraint from the rules above, then wait for that brand’s next sale. Never pay list price for a power station.
How we compared these
Every figure comes from our product spec database, which records manufacturer-published specifications: capacity, continuous and surge output, chemistry and cycle rating, weight, recharge time, solar input, port counts, warranty and MSRP.
Runtimes are calculated rather than measured. Usable energy is rated capacity × 0.85 for AC loads and × 0.95 on DC, where the inverter is bypassed, divided by the device’s average draw. Compressor appliances — fridges especially — are duty-cycled rather than run at nameplate wattage, because a fridge compressor only runs 30–50% of the time. Sizing from the nameplate is the single most common error in published runtime claims, and it roughly doubles the battery people think they need.
We have not tested either brand’s units in the field, so there are no noise readings, thermal measurements or long-term reliability claims on this page. We’d rather say that plainly than repeat someone else’s impressions as our own finding. Prices are MSRP.
